Deutsche Bank: Playing with Hunger

According to the United Nations Organisation for Food and Agriculture (FAO), food prices last year rose to an all time high. International Organisations such as Food Watch, Oxfam and the World Bank have criticised banks for driving up food prices due to trading of commodities futures in commodities such as grain and oil. Although the financial speculation on food should have no impact on prices in the Long Term, the World Bank itself acknowledged in July 2013 that it does have dramatic impacts in the short-term.   ... →
