Rainforest Action Network concerned over links between top snack food companies and ‘conflict palm oil’

The Rainforest Action Network recently protested at the Chicago Board of Trade against the use of conflict palm oil. They claim that palm oil production is a main cause of rainforest destruction in Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as a cause of orangutan extinction. In a report, RAN criticized 20 main snack food companies, such as Pepsi, Heinz and Kraft, for not having responsible policies that ensure that their products containing palm oil are not connected to rainforest destruction, carbon pollution, and human rights abuses.
