Barrick Gold admitted that its actions were not in line with environmental regulations of the controversial Pascua Lama project. The project is concerned with building gold and silver mines. Last month, a Chilean court ruled to stop building activities until Barrick creates the infrastructure to prevent the contamination of water supply. Barrick now officially agreed with the court’s decision and promised to apply all regulations correctly. The court’s ruling is part of an ongoing case in which the Diaguta community tries to revoke Barrick’s licence.
