Bumitama Agri Ltd. is an Indonesian company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. Operating over 204,000 hectares of oil palm plantations, Bumitama’s primary business activities are cultivating oil palm trees, as well as harvesting and processing fresh palm fruit bunches (“FFB”) into PO and PK, which are sold to refineries in Indonesia.
Bumitama is a member of the Round Table on Sustainable Palm Oil. It is not a member of the UN Global Compact, nor has it publicly acknowledged the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights. It is one of many companies whose current practices take advantage of weak governance and lack of enforcement to contribute to widespread environmental and social devastation.
Various investors have excluded Bumitama due to land grabbing, deforestation and environmental pollution, including Deutsche Bank.
