In Argentina, Vale’s Rio Colorado potassium project threatens to contaminate a river basin
where approximately 25,000 people subside. It also threatens a considerable amount of local plant and wildlife. One of the biggest rivers in Argentina, the Colorado River, is put at risk through the intense use of salts.
However, due to inflation and exchange rates, Vale sought to sell the project in 2013.
