Saudi Aramco: Third largest carbon emitter over the last century

Saudi Aramco has been the third largest cumulative carbon emitter over the last century1. A study undertaken in 2013 analysed 90 of the largest oil and gas companies’ contribution to the current levels of carbon in the atmosphere. Companies such as Saudi Aramco have contributed to severe environmental damage while amassing huge profits from these resources. The World Meteorological Association has also shown that current global emissions in 2013 have actually increased, despite severe concern over climate change2.
